At the rear of the Cafe are several pathways that lead you up onto Tower Hill.
The area was cleared of dangerous old trees, and untidy undergrowth in the 1980’s, and with the help of the countryside commission extensive planting of indigenous trees was undertaken. This has made for a splendid background for a fine collection of more ornamental trees and shrubs including; Nothofagus, Camellia, Magnolia, Cornus and of course Rhododendrons.
If you follow the pathways straight up you are led out onto a marvellous panorama of the surrounding countryside, by which there is a truly splendid old Spanish chestnut. In late spring the lower slopes behind the Cafe are clothed in huge populations of English Bluebells which are a joy to behold.
