Due to ongoing weather conditions some activities have been unable to attend. The horse logger, falconry, tree climbing demonstrations, logger, chainsaw carver, charcoal creation, den building, champion tree trail and children’s treasure hunt, pizza, local foods, juices and ciders are here and ready to enjoy the day!
Join us for the inaugural Treemendous Festival on Sunday 22nd September a celebration of nature and the majestic beauty of trees. This unique event promises a fun-filled day with activities for all ages, set here in Cholmondeley Castle Gardens. All activities and crafts are included in the ticket price.
Festival Highlights:
- Champion Tree Trail: Embark on a journey through Cholmondeley’s most impressive trees. Discover the giants of the forest on our specially designed trail.
- Nature’s Treasure Hunt: Find all the treasures on the trail and win a prize
- Horse Logging Demonstration: Watch a traditional horse logger at work in the woods
- Falconry Displays: Be amazed by the elegance and power of birds of prey with our captivating falconry demonstrations
- Chainsaw Carving Demonstration: Watch the masters at work creating sculptures carved from wood
- Charcoal Creation: Learn and watch how charcoal is made
- Woodland Foraging: Discover the feasts hidden inside our woodlands
- BioBlitz Nature-Based Activities : interactive insect displays, owl pellet dissection, craft your own bat and more
- Bark rubbing and ‘how to’ Tree Measuring with our Head Gardener: suitable for all ages, Barry is here to show you how
- Tree climbing Demonstrations: Watch how trained professionals scale the huge trees we have here
- Sawmill: How does wood get milled? Come and watch how!
- Local Food Market: Savour the flavours of our region with a variety of local delicacies, fresh produce, and artisan treats.
Can we bring dogs to this event ?
Yes absolutely, dogs (on leads) are welcome
Is this Event suitable for Wheelchairs?
Hello! The main area of the event is wheelchair accessible however the horse logging demonstrations and tree climbing are within the woodland and can be more difficult to traverse in a wheelchair.
We were so looking forward to bringing our grandson to this tomorrow but, the weather is set to be heavy rain all day. Is the event going ahead? Can we get a refund or a credit for a different event? Thanks

Hello! Members do not need to buy a ticket and are welcome to just turn up on the day.
Is this a ticket only event, or can you just turn up on the day?
Tickets can only be guaranteed by buying in advance, once capacity is reached we would not be able to sell any on the gate. Should we have some left we will put them on the website and Facebook.
Is September entry to the garden still free for RHS members during the treemendous festival? and if so, how would I book a ticket?
Hello! Yes, entry is free for RHS members on open days in September and includes TREEmendous Festival. You do not need to pre-book and are welcome to just turn up on the day. We hope you have a lovely time!
Do you need to buy a ticket if you are a Historic Houses member?
